Attached to this letter is a form requesting your updated personal and professional information. As you know we use this data primarily for two reasons: compliance with federal reporting requirements to ensure continued extramural funding and, secondly, to produce the alumni directory.

You may have noticed that we did not print an alumni directory for 2006-2007, and you may rightfully wonder why we are requesting information yet again that we seemed not to have used from last year. I would like to offer my apologies for that.

Last year was a time of tremendous transition for the School of Medicine with the departure of Dean Larry Faulkner, the appointment of Interim Dean Richard Hoppmann, and the nationwide search for our new dean, Don DiPette, M.D. In addition, the retirement of long-time employee Pat Wegryznowski—who for several years masterfully gathered your information and produced the alumni directory—caused some of our priorities to shift.

Shortly you will indeed receive an electronic copy of the 2006-2007 Alumni Directory by email. Please consider:

• To ensure your privacy, we will not post this information on our website, which is accessible to the public.
• If we do not have a valid email address for you and you would like a copy of the directory, please provide that information on the attached form.
• If you require a printed version, please let me know and I will accommodate you as best as I can.

With all respect, I also ask that you complete the attached form and fax or mail it back to us or access and complete it online at our Alumni Homepage http://alumni.med.sc.edu. When we have all your information collected and verified, we will decide whether to produce a printed version or continue to distribute the directories electronically.
